The Bailie Hotel recently purchased and refurbished by Austin Kelly and family.

Comfy beds, good food and friendly locals at the Bailie

Unbeatable rates at The Bailie Hotel are drawing more tourists to the area.

Bailieborough native Austin Kelly, the owner of the hotel, is attracting more people and tourists to his hometown.

Kate Scully, who looks after the website and social media for the hotel, explained what’s on offer now.

“For an overnight double room at the moment during the week it’s €120 and on the weekend it’s €140 and that includes breakfast so it’s really good value.”

The hotel has been getting “ten out of ten” reviews, on our own website, Airbnb and Booking.com

“We are getting amazing reviews from all over,” she said, listing guests who have stayed from Spain and America.”It’s wonderful to be bringing such tourism back to Bailieborough and the reviews are so positive and personal. Delia, the manager, all the team and, of course, the chefs do a fantastic job!

“It’s just really good value compared to other hotels out there,” said Ms Scully, explaining what sets the hotel apart from others.

Currently there are 16 rooms in the Bailie Hotel, which is set to expand in the coming months. The building next door to the hotel is being renovated.

“That’s in progress at the moment,” Ms Scully said.

The existing rooms were also recently refurbished and they opened in March.

“They’re beautiful,” said Ms Scully, revealing that she has stayed in them herself.

Equipped with ensuite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and a television, the rooms are adorned in lavish furnishings with an inviting turquoise and orange colour theme. Ms Scully promises guests a stylish and comfortable stay. “They’re gorgeous, very comfy beds,” she reported of her stay.

The marketing head explained what Bailieborough boasts to those visiting the area.

“The quaintness of the town itself, the lakes that are close by are a lovely peaceful walk also,” she listed off some of the attractions. However, The Bailie Hotel also boasts another unique feature, a local touch.

During the week, the local businesspeople call into the hotel for their breakfast or carvery dinner, having checked the daily menu on The Bailie Hotel Facebook page beforehand.

“Everybody wants to see the menu every day, it’s lovely, it’s such a community.

“The dessert special is only €5, it’s just unbeatable value with everything,” she said, adding that they also prepare a special for the evening menu every day.

“The bar food menu is hugely extensive.”

“The hotel owner Austin is almost always on hand for a chat. He’s very much a community individual.

“He’s down there most days to chat with guests,” adding that “the whole Bailie team” will make you feel at home.
