Contracts signed for 17 homes in Killeshandra and Ballyjamesduff
Cavan County Council has signed contracts with local firm Crosserlough Construction for the delivery of 17 social homes in two separate developments in Killeshandra and Ballyjamesduff.
The project comprises nine units – four one-bed homes and five two-bed homes – at Plás na hEithne, Rassan Road, Ballyjamesduff, and eight units – four two-bed homes, three three-bed homes, and one four-bed home – at Portaliffe, Killeshandra.
The lead designer on the project is Cavan firm Wynne, Gormley, Gilsenan Architects, and other contractors involved include Renaissance Engineering, Alan Traynor Consulting Engineers, and Walsh Associates Quantity Surveyors.
Speaking following the contract signing, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr T.P. O’Reilly said, “I’m delighted to sign contracts with Crosserlough Construction for the delivery of these 17 homes. Not only is Cavan County Council providing homes to 17 families in Ballyjamesduff and Killeshandra, but we are supporting employment locally, keeping jobs in the county and boosting the local economy.”
Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Eoin Doyle, said: “I am proud of the significant progress this local authority is making in delivering on the Government’s ‘Housing for All’ programme, increasing our social housing stock through a variety of methods including new build construction, turnkey development, and the redevelopment of vacant properties. Just a few short weeks ago, we turned the sod on 45 homes in Bailieborough and now we are signing contracts for 17 high-quality homes in Killeshandra and Ballyjamesduff”.
“I want to thank all who have worked to bring this project to this advanced stage, including Acting Director of Service Lynda McGavigan, Senior Engineer John Wilson, Senior Project Manager Jonathan Condell, and Project Manager Brendan McGourty, as well as the elected members of the Cavan-Belturbet and Ballyjamesduff Municipal Districts,” said Mr Doyle.
Construction on the two developments, which have a total construction cost of €3.5M, is expected to commence in August with an estimate completion date of Q4 2025.
