U16 camógs advance to All-Ireland 'C' decider

Camogie

Mayo 2-10

Cavan 2-5

Cavan camógs have secured their place in the U16 All-Ireland C final after finishing top of the group on Sunday last. With only having lost one game in their campaign, they go to battle against a strong Wicklow this coming Sunday in Abbotstown.

The girls travelled to McHale Park for their final round of championship action for a thrilling encounter with Mayo.

It would not be until the 14th minute of play before Cavan got their first score with a well worked point from play coming from Katie Lynch. Mayo applied the pressure on to Cavan with goalkeeper Vivienne King making some great saves to keep her side in this contest. At the break the scoreboard read Mayo 1-06 to Cavan 0-01.

Wise words from management at the break saw Cavan get the first score of the second half with Rebecca Clarke popping over a point from a free.

Again, keeper King pulled off another crucial save and Cavan started to really come into play when Clarke hit the net in the seventh minute.

A point from play from Edel O’Reilly put five between the sides with 15 minutes left and the visitors soon added a goal from Lauren Tully.

But Mayo finished strongest to win with five to spare.
