Healing Spirit Festival cancelled
High costs and low ticket sales have sadly seen the cancellation of this year's Healing Spirit Festival.
The news was announced today in a social media post by Gearóid Teevan, who organises the event alongside his wife Lorraine, and a committee of volunteers.
The Milltown based festival was due to take place during the August bank holiday weekend, Liam O'Maonlai had been pencilled in as the headline act. The event had the USP of being an alcohol and drug free festival.
'Myself and Lorraine and all the committee are extremely disappointed to announce that we have to cancel this year's Healing Spirit Festival,' read the statement. 'A few factors have contributed to this unwanted outcome. Financial losses caused by having to reschedule last year and the increased cost of running the festival have taken their toll. Unfortunately ticket sales are too far off target to risk going ahead this year. We want to thank everyone who has been involved in trying to put this wonderful Festival together. The committee, sacred space holders, workshop facilitators, artists, volunteers, traders and most of all those of you who invested in the dream and yourselves and bought tickets.
'Thank you to my much loved family, Lorraine, Jobhi. Senan & Noelani for all their love and support. All tickets will be refunded as soon as possible. We hope to see you at Drummany Spirit in the future.'
