It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Catherine Finnegan

Lacken, Ballinagh, Cavan, H12XV30

Catherine Finnegan Lacken, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan, Wednesday, 3rd July 2024, peacefully in Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by her father Packie. Sadly missed by her loving mother Kathleen, brothers Gerard (Margaret), Sean (Dympna), Thomas (Celine), Raymond (Siobhan), Colm (Regina) and her sister Margaret (Breen) her nephew’s, nieces, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Catherine will repose at her home on Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm and again on Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm. Removal from her home on Saturday at 11.30am to arrive St Michael’s Church, Potahee for 12 noon Requiem Mass, interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Family home private at all other times to family and close friends.

Family flowers only please donations in lieu if desired to the Oncology unit Cavan General Hospital.

Eamonn O'Reilly

Drumillard, Castleblayney, Monaghan / Ballyconnell, Cavan

The death has occurred of Eamonn O’Reilly, Drumillard, Castleblayney. (formerly Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan) Wednesday, 3rd of July 2024, at Castleross Nursing Home. Predeceased by his wife Maura and son Brendan, brothers, Francis and Desmond, sisters, Maura and Rita.

Much loved and deeply regretted by his children Margaret, Eileen, Fintan, and Nuala, grandchildren Thomas, Rory, Aileen, (Pringle), Aisling, Méabh, Eimear (McKennna), Katie, Mark, Clara, (O Reilly), Christopher, Róisín and Jonjo (Bennetts), sons-in-law, nieces and nephews, relatives, extended family and many friends.

Reposing at Corrigans’ Funeral Home (A75 E361), 4pm-7 pm on Sunday 7th July. Eamonn’s funeral cortege will leave from his home in Drumillard on Monday afternoon (8th July) at 12:30 arriving to St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney for funeral Mass at 1.00 pm, with burial afterward in the adjoining cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers to Castleblayney Faughs Youth Development Fund.

Eamonn’s family would like to thank the staff at Castleross Nursing Home and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for their exceptional care and kindness throughout.

Iris Taylor (nee Sheridan)

Drumcon , Cornafean, Co. Cavan.

Tuesday July 2nd peacefully in the tender loving care of the staff in Oakview Nursing Home, Belturbet.

Predeceased by her husband Cecil and brother Willie.

Iris will be sadly missed by her nephews, niece, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Resting in Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan this evening, Wednesday from 8.30pm until 9.30pm.

Removal from Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan tomorrow Thursday arriving at Killeshandra Parish Church at 3pm for Funeral service followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Drumgowna, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Gerry Callan, Drumgowna, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully at his home in the loving care of his family, in his 88th year, Wednesday 3rd July 2024. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife, Rosie, his family Marie (John), P.J., Margaret (Gussie), Martin (Madeleine), Geraldine (Cathal), John (Cathy), Thomas (Marcella), Sarah (Stephen), his 15 grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross (A81 C653) on Thursday afternoon (4th July) from 3pm to 8pm. Removal on Friday morning on foot via Monaghan Street to St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards to St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Carrickmacross.

Robert William Hall

Fortview, Crussin, Scotshouse, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Robert William Hall, Fortview, Crussin, Scotshouse, Co. Monaghan, Wednesday 3rd July, suddenly and unexpectedly in Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife Laura and son Ian.

Robert will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his devoted wife Laura, his adored and cherished son Ian, his sisters Elizabeth (Bertie Young, Wicklow) and Rosemary (Lester Downey, Roslea), sisters-in-law, brother-in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, his many friends and by all who knew and loved Robert.
