Weather update from Met Éireann

Any mist patches will clear quickly this morning to leave a mix of cloud and sunny spells. It will become overcast across the western half of the country during the afternoon with showery rain developing. Patchy rain and drizzle will then push eastwards over Ireland during the evening with a clearance to brighter and fresher weather following from the west as the rain clears.

Rainfall totals will be small, with very little expected in the east or southeast. Highest temperatures generally ranging from 20 to 23 degrees with moderate southerly breezes increasing strong along the Atlantic seaboard.

Showery rain will clear from Leinster early tonight and it will be dry for a time with clear spells for many. However, showery outbreaks of rain will spread from the Atlantic to affect western and northwestern areas later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.

Fresh and breezy on Thursday with showery rain spreading eastwards across the country. Rainfall amounts will be fairly small in the east and south with decent dry and bright spells at times.

The showery rain will become mainly confined to the west and north by evening with sunny spells developing elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest to west winds.

Fresh and breezy on Thursday night with a mix of clear spells and showers. Showers will be mostly confined to western and northern areas. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with fresh and gusty westerly breezes.

It looks set to be mostly cloudy on Friday with scattered showers. During the afternoon and evening, a spell of more persistent rain will develop in Atlantic coastal counties. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with moderate southwest to west winds.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will extend across much of the country on Friday night. Minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light south or variable breezes.

A cloudy and rather damp start on Saturday with patchy rain and drizzle. Drier and brighter weather will develop across Connacht and Ulster during the afternoon and evening but staying fairly cloudy and damp elsewhere. Highest temperatures ranging from 15 to 19 degrees. Any patchy rain or drizzle in the east and south will clear quickly on Saturday night to leave most areas dry. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light northwest breezes.

Current indications suggest Sunday will be a predominantly dry day. It will be mostly cloudy across the west and north of the country with a few showers. The best chance for any decent spells of sunshine will be across the east and south. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, warmest in the southeast in moderate northwest breezes.
