It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Maxine McIntyre

7 Tycusker, Arva, Co. Cavan

Sunday June 23rd, unexpectedly at Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by her loving husband Louis. Maxine will be very sadly missed by her loving partner Sean (Rusty) Reilly and daughters; Samantha (Thomas), Verity (Frank), adored grandchildren; Áine, Mark, Ellen and Ava, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

James (Jimmy) Egan

Virginia, Co Cavan and formerly Boston MA, USA

And Turloughmore, Athenry, Co Galway

Peacefully in the presence of his loving family in St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Virginia, Co. Cavan, 22 June, 2024.

Predeceased by his wife Mary (Una) Egan (nèe Hughes), his brothers John and Thomas Egan, his sister Bridget (Bridie) Joyce, in laws Stanley Sreda, Thomas Higgins, John (Jack) Byrd, Myles Glynn, Kathleen Egan, Timothy Joyce, Oliver, John and Philomena Hughes, Julia and Peter Mac Donald.

Sadly missed by his daughter Christine Watters, son in law Mícheál Watters, grandchildren Mícheál, Aideen, Ciara and Dáiríne, sisters Mary Sreda (Sharon, MA.), Josephine Higgins (Stoneham MA.), Annie Byrd (Ballyglunin) and Teresa Glynn (Ballyglunin), in laws Anne Doyle (London), Ena and Paddy Maye (London), Chrissie Flannery (Athenry) and his many nieces, neph­ews, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace

Reposing at Matthews' Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Monday evening from 6 o'clock until prayers at 8 o'clock.

Removal to Lackagh Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday evening for repose from 5.30 o'clock until 8 o'clock followed with removal to Our Lady of Knock Parish Church, Lackagh, Turloughmore (H65NI29).

Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 12 o'clock with burial afterwards in Lackagh New Cemetery.

The family will be forever grateful to all the staff of St. Joseph's Nursing Home for the love and exceptional care they showed to Jimmy and their family during his time there.

Maureen Hunt

(née McKenna)

Cavan Town, Cavan / Clones, Monaghan / Castlerea, Roscommon

The death has occurred of Maureen Hunt (née McKenna) Cavan, formerly of Clones and Castlerea.

Maureen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the gentle care of the wonderful staff of The Sullivan Centre, Cavan.

Predeceased by her brother Noel, Maureen will be sadly missed by her husband Tom, daughters Dearbhla and Ciara, sister Patricia, sister in law Margaret, son in law Marcus, grandchildren Andrea, Laura Adam, nieces, nephews and her extended family and friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Rd, Cavan (H12RF78) on Sunday, 23rd June, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Funeral Mass on Monday, 24th June, at 11am at The Sacred Heart Church, Clones.

Private cremation at a later date.

House private, family flowers only, Donations, if desired, to the Sullivan Centre, Cavan.

John (Johnny) Kearns

Claddagh, Coolshannagh Rd, Monaghan Town, Monaghan / Duniry, Galway

The death has occurred of John (Johnny) Kearns, Coolshannagh Road, Monaghan and formerly of Duniry, Galway, on Saturday 22nd June, peacefully, at Cavan General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Pre-deceased by his parents Martin and Catherine, sister Katie, brothers Denis (Dinny), Paddy (Packie), Martin and brothers and sisters in laws. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, son Eamon, grandchildren John and Tula, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. John will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.

May John’s gentle soul Rest in Peace.

John's remains will repose at his residence from 3pm on Monday until removal on Tuesday morning to arrive at St. Macartan’s Cathedral for 11am funeral Mass, burial afterwards in Latlurcan Cemetery. House private to family and friends only, please.

Seán McKenna

14 Glenview Drive, Killygoan, Monaghan Town, Monaghan / Emyvale, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Seán McKenna, 14 Glenview Drive, Killygoan, Monaghan and formerly Corracrin, Emyvale. Sunday 23rd June peacefully in the expert care of Medical 6, Cavan General Hospital.

Seán was pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Bridget, his sister Anita and brothers Brendan and Martin.

Seán will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife Maria, his daughters Amanda, Arlene, and his beautiful precious granddaughter Aria.

Seán was a beloved brother of Aiden and Gregory (both hugely supportive of him especially during his long illness), he will also be remembered by his sisters in law Fionnuala, Irene, Sinead, and Bridget, his nieces and nephews, extended family, his many friends and acquaintances.

Seán’s remains will Repose at McMahon’s Funeral Home, Emyvale, H18 FK80 on Monday from 5pm - 8pm and Tuesday from 5pm - 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church Corracrin for Funeral Mass at 11am. Seán will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Sean lived a full and active life excelling in many interests over the years. He embodied strong ideals and values and courageously bore his illness with strength and fortitude. A great man who has left a void in his family and community.
