Gowna children show their literary and artistic sides
As part of the Cruinniu na nÓg Festival in Loch Gowna a children's literary and art competition in conjunction with St Patrick's National School was held, based on the theme of 'Colour'. Children could submit a drawing, poem, or short story. The event attracted over 80 entries, all of which were fabulous according to the judges, Kate Crossan, Principal, St Patrick's NS and Father Michael Bannon, Parish of Loch Gowna & Mullinalaghta.
Winners and runners up received gift vouchers donated by the Loch Gowna Tidy Towns Committee. The organisers Jess Nolan and Trish Hannick of Gowna Tidy Towns hope to run this competition again next year.
"The standard of work we received was fantastic," enthused Jess, chairperson of Gowna Tidy Towns. "It's so wonderful to see how the children can put their imagination to paper and draw us into their world."
