Tenders advertised for residential developments
Cavan County Council has advertised a tender for the construction of 13 housing units in Kilnaleck.
The 13 units will be delivered in two residential developments.
The first development consists of four bungalows; with minor demolition, refurbishment, and construction of an extension to an existing bungalow; the formation of new entrance and service road; together with all associated site works at 157 Barrack road, Kilnaleck.
The second development consists of the demolition, renovation and extension of an existing two-storey premises known as Briody Hardware on Main Street, Kilnaleck, to construct a new two-storey unit consisting of four maisonettes.
The development will be connected to existing public services and all ancillary and associated works.
The duration of the contract is 15 months, and the deadline for expressions of interest is July 5.
In April the council signed contracts with Dungannon's GEDA Construction for the delivery of 45 new social homes at Pairc na Téile, Bailieborough, with a contract value of €11 million.
The development will consist of four one-bed, two-storey apartments; six two-bed, semi-detached, single-storey homes; 22 two-bed, semi-detached, two-storey homes; four three-bed, semi-detached, single-storey homes; six three-bed, semi-detached, two-storey homes; two four-bed, semi-detached, single-storey homes and one five-bed, detached, two-storey home.
The month before that, tenders were issued for the construction of 17 new housing units in two residential developments, the first consisting of nine homes, the formation of new entrance and service road with associated parking and green areas, at Derrylurgan, Ballyjamesduff.
Last year the council published a Compulsory Purchase Order for the lands which contained five derelict houses, together with adjacent lands.
The second development was for eight new housing units at Portaliffe, Killeshandra.
In February the local authority's planning section also signed contracts with Louth-based Darra Bridge Housing Ltd for the provision of 33 turnkey social homes at Lisaturrin in Kingscourt.
Local Cavan company, Wynne Gormley Gilsenan, was appointed architect overseeing the near €10 million scheme, which is funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage.
The scheme comprises four one-bed units, 16 two-bed units, nine three-bed houses and four four-bed houses, and will be completed in three stages. Twenty-three of the houses will be completed in 2024, and the remaining 10 to be completed by mid-2025.
Work meanwhile is continuing on the delivery of 20 new homes at St Brigid’s Terrace, Cavan Town, a project being delivered by Crosserlough Construction.
The contract, valued at €5,876,610 plus VAT, will see the demolition of two bungalows and six terraced houses, to be replaced with two three-storey split level blocks comprising twenty units. Block ‘A’ will contain six one-bed apartments over six two-bed duplex apartments; while Block ‘B’ will contain four two-bed duplex apartments over four one-bed apartments.
Construction commenced in early July 2023, and the contract is for 18 months.
