Drumlinia to announce 'special' closing act

Event to take place at the Townhall Theatre, October 27.

The Drumlinia Music Festival and Industry Week 2024 will announce details of a surprise headline show at the Cavan Townhall Theatre in next week's Anglo-Celt newspaper.

With Irish singing superstar Daniel O'Donnell set to open proceedings with a show at the landmark on Sunday, October 20, the soon to be announced new concert will close out what is already building to be a highly anticipated event for the county on Sunday, October 27.

Tickets for the O'Donnell concert at the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Felim are already on sale and selling out fast, and founder of the Drumlinia Festival, Don Mescall, is equally enthused about adding this latest addition to the festival line-up.

“They are someone very special to me, who is a very dear friend, having played an important part in the development of my own career,” teases Mescall. “They were one of the artists who, at the time, really took me under their wing.”

Mescall says to get two artists of such calibre performing in Cavan back-to-back is a “real coup”, and he thanked Cavan Arts for their continued support.

“The person who we'll be announcing next week has, over the years, recorded nine of 10 of my songs. We have a great bond. We used to tour together. What I can say is they're one of the most genuine people I've met in this industry, and everything they sing is from the heart.”

The Drumlinia industry week initiative aims to encourage and nurture emerging musical artists and creatives, and last year the inaugural event was spread across three days.
