A balancing act

Cavan Women in Business enjoy networking event

Around 60 women embraced the theme of the latest Cavan Women in Business Network event - ‘Get Organised, Stay Healthy, Achieve Balance & Reach Your Goals’.

Hosted at the Cavan Digital Hub last week, on June 12, this well-attended event featured four dynamic speakers.

First to speak were Claire and Kieron Moran of Morans Mega Jams, a County Cavan-based company. The couple shared their inspiring business journey, from their humble beginnings in 2010 to receiving an investment offer from TV’s Dragon’s Den in 2017, and ultimately to supplying leading supermarkets across Ireland.

Lyn Sharkey, a nutritional therapist (Dip Nut CNM) and a member of the Cavan Women in Business Network, followed with an insightful presentation titled ‘How Simple Changes Can Make a Huge Difference, One Step at a Time’. Lyn shared her personal experiences with health struggles and emphasised the importance of good nutrition, stating: “Everything that we put into our mouth is either feeding or fighting disease. It is actually that simple.”

Her presentation offered valuable advice and tips for making better health choices to improve quality of life.

The final speaker, Ciara Conlon, an expert in productivity and performance and an author, addressed the audience on improving performance and workflow while maintaining a balanced life. “The quality of the life you lead is determined by the quality of our daily habits.”

She provided practical strategies for focusing, prioritising, and increasing efficiency to reduce stress and enhance productivity.

The event also featured a brief welcome by Tara McGovern, business advisor at the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cavan, reminded attendees of the support LEO Cavan offers for business development.

Margaret McKeon-Boyle of Extensive PR, who coordinates the Cavan Women in Business Network on behalf of LEO Cavan, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The Cavan Women in Business Network will break for the summer. The next meeting is scheduled for September 11 at the Hotel Kilmore.
