Covid outbreak at Cavan and Monaghan hospitals
Urgent referrals only; visiting restrictions in place
Strict visiting restrictions have been put in place at Cavan and Monaghan hospitals following an outbreak of COVID-19 in both facilities.
Hospital management is asking that only urgent referrals be sent to the hospitals.
A memo was issued to media this morning informing them of the outbreak.
'The Outbreak Committee have met and are meeting regularly to ensure all appropriate measures have been put in place,' the statement reads.
'We would kindly request that urgent referrals only are made into Cavan General Hospital,' adds the memo in the name of Su-Zann O’Callaghan, General Manager, Cavan & Monaghan Hospital.
Visiting is restricted on the following basis:
1. Critical and compassionate/exceptional circumstances visiting due to end of life care, at risk or vulnerable patients: Prior arrangement with Clinical Nurse Manager of the ward is required.
2. Routine Visiting Times: One person only during these designated times.
3. Maternity visiting: Not restricted for partners of in-patients.
4. Paediatric Department: one designated person with the admitted child.
The statement assures: "We are still providing full emergency care if it is required. Thank you for your support."
