Teen dies in Cavan workplace accident

A post-mortem will take place in due course.

A young worker died following a workplace accident at a site in Cavan yesterday.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, June 13, shortly after 4.30pm.

Gardaí and emergency services, but the teen was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) were also notified, and a file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court.

A post-mortem will take place in due course.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana confirmed to the Celt: “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a fatal workplace accident at a premises in Cavan yesterday afternoon, 13th June 2024 shortly after 4.30pm.

“A 17-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Cavan. A post-mortem will take place in due course.

“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court.”

A spokesperson for the HSA confirmed that it is "aware of the incident" and have launched an investigation.

"No further information is available at this time."
