It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

John Carbin

Cloonroughan, Castlerea, Roscommon / Corlough, Cavan

The death has occurred of John Carbin, Cloonroughan, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon and formerly of Corlough, Co. Cavan - 11th June 2024, peacefully at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar after a short illness. John will be sadly missed by his loving wife Anne, daughter Maria (Hussey), beloved grandsons Dylan, Cillian, Aaron and Jack, son-in-law Francis, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May His Gentle Soul Reset In Peace.

Reposing at Gaynor’s Funeral Home, Castlerea from 5pm - 7pm on Friday. Funeral arriving at St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am on Saturday. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Gerry Martin

Drumbracken, Magheracloone, Monaghan / Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Gerry Martin, Drumbracken, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, suddenly, 10th June 2024.

Gerry is predeceased by his daughter Noella and his parents Tommy and Mary. He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Bernie, children Niamh and Ronan, his sisters Frances, Ann, Breda, and Peggy, as well as his brother Thomas. Gerry will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Kathleen McGlynn, Niamh’s partner Aidan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Rest In Peace

Gerry will repose at at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home, Kingscourt (Eircode A82 R3W2) on Thursday, 13th June, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Please note the change in the venue for the reposing is in the interest of road safety and in anticipation of poor weather conditions.

Gerry’s funeral Mass will take place on Friday, 14th June, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, at 10 am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Trevor O'Reilly

Cloncovid, Kilcogy, Cavan

Trevor died suddenly at his home on Monday 10th June 2024. Predeceased by his mother Anne. Sadly missed by his loving wife Roisin, children Martin, Trevor Jack (Leah), Declan (Ellie), and Melisa his father John, sister Aisling, brother Philip, grandchildren Nedaleigh and Bonnie, mother-in-law Ann, brother's-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing at his home on Thursday and Friday from 4 pm. to 8pm. (N39V886) Funeral Mass on Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran at 2 pm. Interment afterwards in Mullinalaghta Cemetery.

Sean Smith

Corrygarry, Kingscourt, Cavan / Kells, Meath

The death has occurred of Sean Smith, Corrygarry, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan and formerly of New Market Street, Kells and Balreask, Navan, Co. Meath, peacefully and surrounded by his family at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, 12th June 2024.

Sean is pre-deceased by his wife, Breda, his brother, Cecil (USA) and his sister, Marian O'Reilly (Kells). Sean is survived by his sons, Martin, Shane, Kieran, and Rory, his brother Ollie (Kells), daughters-in-law, Kelley, Michelle, Mary, and Joanne and his grandchildren, Lauren, Katie, Ross, Erin, Niamh, Sean, Aimee, and Charlie. Sean will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law May Sheridan, Rose Breen, Judith Smith (U.S.A.) and Yvonne Smith (Kells), former colleagues in Navan Carpets and Wellman International, Mullagh, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Rest In Peace

Sean will repose at his home on Corrygarry, Kingscourt (A82E766), on Friday, 14th June, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Removal will take place on Saturday evening, 15th June, at 5 pm to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt where his funeral Mass will be held at 12 pm on Sunday, 16th June, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Castleknock, Dublin / Lisnalong, Monaghan

BLACK (née McMahon), Mary (Maria) (Castleknock, Dublin 15 and formerly of Lisnalong, Co. Monaghan) June 12th 2024. Peacefully, in her 96th year, under the wonderful care of the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park. Predeceased by her much loved husband Peadar. Sadly missed by her loving children Ciaran, Fergal, Noel and Eimear, son-in-law Kevin, daughters-in-law Bernadette, Emma, Margo and Richelle, grandchildren Sarah, Ciara, Peter, Aidan, Fiona, Colm, Emma, Adam, Jedrick, Peadar, Connie and Liam, great-grandson Lucas, sisters Carmel and Kathleen, brothers Liam and Gerald, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Blanchardstown on Saturday (15th June) from 4pm to 6pm. Removal to the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Laurel Lodge, Castleknock on Monday morning (17th June) arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by burial in St. Mary’s Churchyard, Clonsilla. Unexpectedly on Tuesday 11th June 2024.

Predeceased by his son Desmond and beloved wife Paddy. Sadly missed by his loving children Emma, Malachi, Leah, Heidi, Ivor, Inez, Adam and Graham, brothers Robert, Paul, Kevin and Michael and sister Maree (Dolan), sons-in-law Denis, Eoin and John, daughters-in-law Alisha, Niamh-Kate and Karla, his fifteen adoring grandchildren, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The death has occurred of Cheryl Donagher (née Shillabeer). Kiltybegs, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan. 12th June 2024. Peacefully, surrounded by her cherished family, at the Louth County Hospital, Dundalk.

Predeceased by her mother Eileen and her son Dustin.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by her beloved family; her husband Tony, her daughter Jessica (Ryan) and her son Ryan (Laura), her much-loved grandchildren Ethan, Eryn, Madison, Aiden, Marley & Frankie, her dad Ray, her brother Alistair and her sisters Tessa & Jennie, her extended family, neighbours and many friends in Ireland, UK & Zimbabwe.

Cheryl will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 D328, on Saturday, 15th June, from 3pm until 6pm.

Cheryl's funeral cortège will leave the Funeral Home on Sunday, 16th June, proceeding on foot to St. Finbarr's Church, Carrickmacross, arriving for Funeral Service at 2pm, afterwards driving to God's Acre Graveyard for burial.
