Cavan resident and mum of four who died abroad laid to rest

Misambo Kindembo lived in Moynehall

A Cavan mum of four, who tragically died while holidaying abroad, was laid to rest last weekend.

Misambo Kindembo, Ashbrooke Grove, Moynehall, Cavan Town, formerly Monaghan Town, and also the Democratic Republic of Congo, died on May 26, in the East African country of Burundi.

She was predeceased by her father in law, Mmasa Asukulu Luangiye, who died in May 2024. She is survived by her husband Jack Kakozi and her four young children - Victoria, Gloria, Shukuru and Anjela.

According to her death notice, Ms Kindembo will be missed by her heartbroken family, and “remembered with love” by her father Kindembo Issa, mother Vumilia Mayani, brothers Mayani Kindembo, Kangoma Kindembo, Mwanandeke Kindembo and Kambwala Kindembo, sisters Bawili Kindembo and Fitina Kindembo, relatives, neighbours and her wide circle of friends.

Ms Kindembo's remains went on repose at Clerkins' Funeral Home, Milltown, Monaghan, last Friday, June 7, with her funeral service taking place there on Saturday, June 8, followed by burial afterwards at Annagh Cemetery, Belturbet, via her home at Ashbrooke Grove, Cavan Town.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs informed this newspaper when contacted that it was “aware of the case” and had provided “consular assistance” to the family of the deceased.
