Cavan CU an unlikely spot for Conlon's Likeable tour
Galway born Singer-Songwriter Ultan Conlon is bringing his Unlikely Likeable Tour to Cavan Credit Union this Friday evening at 7pm.
It all started with a meeting with Mary Coughlan in a café in Athlone. Mary is a good friend of Ultan’s and has recorded songs with him. On one occasion, she had forgotten her laptop and Ultan met with her in a coffee shop in Athlone to return it to her. The staff at the café asked her for a photo, and she said we will do one better and they started singing a song together. The song was recorded and went on to go viral. People then contacted Ultan asking him if he would come to their shop or premises. Ultan realised that there were so many places outside the big cities which were the perfect place to bring his music to and so the Unlikely Likeable tour was born.
Ultan has to date played all around the country and in many different and unusual venues including a donkey sanctuary, school, post office, architect’s office and this Friday, June 12, will add a credit union to that list.
The Galway based musician anchored his distinctive sound and sensibility in Los Angeles, California with Grammy Award- winning David Garza (Fiona Apple) who produced Ultan’s fifth and latest record, ‘The Starlight Ballroom’. He will bring his mellifluous songs of substance which are told with intelligence and a wry take on life and have resonated with audiences nationwide to Cavan Credit Union this Friday.
