SF's Gaffney's elimination boosts party colleague
FG's Trevor Smith's surplus of 63 to be divided in Count 5.
Sinn Féin's Angela Gaffney elimination at Count 3 in the Ballyjamesduff MD saw her overall vote of 596 benefit running mate Noel Connell most, adding 410 to his total, bringing him up to what can only be consider safety at 1,488.
At Count 3, with the surplus of poll topper Independent Ireland's Shane P O'Reilly shared out, Connell sat on 1,070, just ahead of Shamrock Independent Lester Gordon (1,050).
Gordon received 18 from Gaffney's split. The other big winners were Fine Gael's TP O'Reilly who climbed 50 to 1,351, and Aontú's Grainne McPhilip (+24 to 816).
Though catching up, she sits behind Fianna Fáil's second candidate in the area, Nathan Galligan, now on 850, with all waiting for the surplus of first count elected, Fine Gael's Trevor Smith, before any more eliminations happen.
Fine Gael's Winston Bennett is on 1,465 (+3) and Fianna Fáil's Philip 'Gunner' Brady on 1,316 (+10).
