Mainly dry day but quite overcast

Mainly dry though rather cloudy today, the best of the sunshine will be in the south and there'll be patchy drizzle in the north. Highest temperatures 14 to 20 degrees, warmest in the south, in a light to moderate westerly breeze.

Mainly dry overnight, patchy rain in the northwest will turn more persistent later, moving southwards by morning. Temperatures 10 to 12 degrees in light to moderate west to southwest winds, freshening along Atlantic coasts with the more persistent rain.

Rain to start tomorrow, Tuesday, will clear to sunshine and showers by afternoon. Highest temperatures 13 to 17 degrees, and feeling a good bit cooler as the winds veer northwest and increase moderate to fresh and gusty in the afternoon.

Dry and clear for much of the country Tuesday night, it will be cloudier in northern and western parts with scattered showers. Lowest temperatures 5 to 7 degrees in easing west to northwest winds.

A much cooler day on Wednesday with sunny spells and scattered showers, most frequent in the north. Highest temperatures 11 to 15 degrees in moderate westerly winds, fresher near western and northern coasts.

Wednesday night will be mainly dry with clear spells and isolated showers on north and west coasts. Lowest temperatures 5 to 7 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

Sunny spells and showers on Thursday, most frequent in the north and west. Highest temperatures 12 to 15 degrees in mostly moderate westerly winds.

Showers or more persistent rain in the north on Friday with the best of any dry or sunny weather in the south. Highest temperatures 15 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.

Current indications suggest little change for next weekend with temperatures continuing around normal for the time of year and with some sunshine at times with mainly westerly winds.
