With almost three decades of experience in the auctioneering industry, Declan Woods is now one of the longest serving agents in the Cavan area.
As current treasurer of the Ulster GAA, Declan is also very much involved in sports and the community himself.
He’s delighted to be associated with the inaugural Community & Sports Awards to acknowledge the voluntary efforts of people who make a positive difference in their communities and recognise the sporting successes of others.

Sherry FitzGerald Declan Woods sponsors this year’s Hall of Fame Award. Declan congratulated the recipient, footballer Stephen King, captain of the Cavan team that lifted The Anglo-Celt Cup in 1997.
“The Hall of Fame Award, by its very nature, acknowledges someone who has left a legacy within their community,” said Declan, saying that Stephen very much has “made a difference” to his community and his county.
Declan said he is a great role model and young people look up to him.
“To see someone who gave 17 years of service to his county, something that doesn’t happen anymore; and gave huge service to his club; and to have been the captain of the team who brought so much satisfaction to us all in bridging a 28-year gap to win the Ulster title in 1997, I am delighted to see Stephen won it.”
