M-Tec: Engineering success!

M-Tec our proud to sponsor the Community Group of the Year in this year's Community & Sports Awards...

In just four short years, a west Cavan family business has grown to become an international success story and is preparing to launch its products on the wider European market later this year.

Established in 2020 by the Malanaphy family, M-Tec Engineering is located in Swanlinbar, County Cavan. The team specialises in designing, engineering, and manufacturing high-quality trailers for agricultural, construction, landscaping, and domestic use.

Starting with smaller general purpose and tipping trailers, the firm expanded to launch a premium livestock trailer range in September 2022, debuting with the 12x6FT livestock trailer at the National Ploughing Championships. The company’s innovation design also won the safety agricultural award at the event.

Following a successful launch, M-Tec introduced the 14x6FT tri-axle trailer with sheep decks and this month the team launched seven foot high livestock trailers for the equine industry.

M-Tec Engineering exports its full range of products to the UK and Australia and is set to enter European markets by the end of this year.

The company was also named overall Cavan Business of the Year in The Anglo-Celt’s Business & Tourism Awards for 2023.

Therese Malanaphy, Head of Finance & Operations, says M-Tec is delighted to be associated with the Celt’s inaugural Community & Sports Awards. The firm’s sponsorship of Community Group of the Year sits well with the company’s community ethos. “From manufacturing in a small village, we know how important community support has been for the growth of the business,” said Therese.

Every member of the Malanaphy family plays an integral role in the success of the business. Therese’s brother Adrian is CEO and heads up the innovation of new designs and overall growth of the business. Another brother Patrick, based in Australia, handles the firm’s growing export business Down Under. Their sister Noeleen Lyons heads up marketing; while dad Danny is Head of Production.

M-TEC Engineering Ltd now produces 12 different types of trailer with over 50% of its products exported to the UK market. A contract has recently been signed for exporting to Australia and emerging European markets are also on the horizon.

M-Tec Engineering is a company to watch for the future, having achieved sales of €1.2m to the UK and a contract in Australia within just four years of being established.

It currently employ 23 staff members, with the ambition of employing 15 more staff over the next two years.
