Motorist airlifted to hospital following collision in Swanlinbar

A female in her late teens was airlifted to hospital yesterday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision near Swanlinbar.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on the R202 at Derrbeg near Swanlinbar shortly after 3:15 pm yesterday (Monday, May 20).

One motorist was airlifted to Galway University Hospital where her injuries are understood to be serious.

The occupants of the second car did not require immediate medical treatment.

Gardaí are investigating the collision.
