Homes still without power after Storm Kathleen

There are dozens of homes and businesses in Cavan still without power today after storm force winds associated with Storm Kathleen caused damage to the electricity networks in the region.

There are several dozen houses between Ballyconnell and Bawnboy still without electricity, with a fix not expected until 3pm today.

Other outages have been reported in Dowra, and in neighbouring counties too, in Monaghan, Leitrim, Longford and Meath.

Yesterday, during the worst of the storm, several hundred homes near Belturbet were affected, in the area of Dernaglush, while power was also knocked out in Tonylion near Kilnaleck, Aughakee, and Lackan Upper outside Ballinagh, at Kilquilly close to Ballyjamesduff, as well as west of Cootehill.

ESB Networks teams are restoring power where safe to do so.
