Gardaí investigate missing person case
A man has been found safe after gardaí in West Cavan conducted what was described as a full-scale missing person’s investigation over the weekend.
The search, which continued into Monday morning, first began last Saturday, March 23, when the man in question is understood to have left his home near Blacklion village in the company of a number of, as yet, unidentified individuals.
The following day, Sunday, March 24, a search operation for the man was supported by specialist garda units, including Air Support, to assist officers on the ground near to the border village.
The man though reappeared safe on Monday, and inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances of what occurred.
Gardaí are said to be following a line of inquiry into an alleged incident on Saturday, which may or may not be linked to the man’s disappearance.
A statement, issued by An Garda Síochána confirmed: “Gardaí in Cavan have been carrying out investigations into a report of a missing person, which occurred on Sunday 24th March 2024.
“The alleged missing person has since been found safe and well.”
The spokesperson added: “No further comment is available at this time.”
