Beefy €100M deal for Liffey Meats in Cavan
Local beef supplier Liffey Meats has secured a €100m contract with Lidl in a deal that has been described as a "game changer" for the Ballyjamesduff processor.
The beef, which is all Bord Bia Quality Assured produce, includes €25M in exports to Lidl stores worldwide.
Ciaran Beirne, head of retail sales for Liffey Meats, was in Zagreb, Croatia, last week with Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, Neale Richmond, and Lidl's CEO for Ireland, J.P. Scally, to announce details of the major deal.

Liffey Meats and Lidl have grown a strong partnership of over 20 years and now more than 50 varieties of quality cuts on shelves across Ireland and worldwide including award-winning rib roast joints to 36-day aged ribeye steaks.Minister Richmond was in Zagreb to view the selection of Liffey Meats products that are exported by Lidl Ireland to its sister stores in Croatia.
Lidl’s supply deal has facilitated 54 Bord Bia Quality Assured products to be exported to Lidl stores in 13 countries across Europe showcasing the best of Irish beef on the global stage.

In 2023, Lidl Ireland procured more than €1.6 billion worth of goods and services from local businesses. The German discounter employs more than 6,000 people in Ireland across its 179 stores, three regional distribution centres and head office in Tallaght.
