Easter Scavenger Hunt around Cavan Town
Fundraiser for Teach Oscail Family Resource Centre
- Marc Chander -
Families are being urged to join a special week-long Easter Scavenger Hunt next week in conjunction with a popular family resource centre.
The event is being hosted by Teach Oscail and the search for clues starts next Monday, March 25, at the centre's Church Street premises in Cavan Town where treasure hunters can pick up their clue cards from 12 noon.
Sponsored by Cavan Credit Union, entry is free. Families must return their cards before 5pm on Tuesday, April 2, to be entered into a raffle to win some amazing prizes.
The clues can be found across local Cavan Town businesses, and everyone is welcome to participate, although parental supervision is required.
Speaking to the Celt former student of Teach Oscail and event organiser Eve Coyle-Kinsella wanted to provide a free, inclusive, and enjoyable event to everyone in the town. She hopes it will bring the community together in an outdoor activity to promote positive health and get children involved and feel a part of their community.
“To do an activity that doesn’t involve phones or social media, and provides a challenge, it’s a real good feeling when you complete the card and the excitement of going to find the next place that has another clue. It’s an old-fashioned thing so it’s like bringing it back to basics to have an event like that,” she said.
It's hoped to make the Scavenger Hunt an annual event for the community.
“The hope is this becomes an annual event and its important to us that we get the feedback from the families afterwards if they have any suggestions of things to help It run better next year, we’d like to hear it, the hope is to make this an annual event.”
