Rough day ahead as storm Jocelyn approaches Ireland

Wet and windy today as Storm Jocelyn tracks to the northwest of Ireland. Very strong and gusty southwesterly winds will develop through the day, with the strongest winds in the west and northwest and gales on coasts. Widespread outbreaks of rain will give way to scattered showers and a few brighter breaks from the west this afternoon. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Strong winds continuing for a time Tuesday night with the very strong and gusty southwest to west wind easing overnight. Clear spells and scattered showers at first, becoming isolated as the night goes on. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

Mainly dry to begin on Wednesday, apart from isolated showers in the northwest, with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. A few showers will break out mainly across the northern half of the country during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh westerly winds in the north at first, light to moderate elsewhere, becoming light southerly everywhere later. Highest temperatures 8 to 10 degrees.
