Cold snap to last for another few days in Co Cavan
The cold snap is likely to continue for another few days as today begins very cold with frost and ice slowly clearing.
It will be mostly dry with sunny spells, although a few showers are possible in the east. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in a light to moderate northeasterly breeze.
It will become rather cloudy but dry overall this evening despite being quite cold too with lows of 0 to -2 degrees.
Met Eireann says the rather cold weather will stay with us through Thursday too with the best of any sunshine to be had in the west. Further east it will remain cloudy with limited sunny spells and highs will range from 4 to 7 degrees in an easterly breeze.
It will be cold overnight on Thursday with lows dropping down to zero or -1 degrees with some patchy frost and ice.
Friday will start out cloudy with a few light showers mainly about the coasts. Highs of around 4 to 7 degrees in light northeast breezes. The night will see a mix of cloud and clear spells along with an isolated patch of light rain or drizzle. A cold night again with lows of 1 to -3 Celsius with some frost and icy patches.
