‘To us he is an inspiration’
DAIRE Gorman, a member of the Cavan/Monaghan Little Blue Heroes had a birthday to remember in September.
Not only did the Little Blue Hero group organise a trip to Anfield for him ahead of his twelfth birthday to watch Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa, he was also presented with jerseys signed by Liverpool player Diogo Jota and retired club legend Jamie Carragher.
His emotional reaction upon receiving the jerseys was since shared on Twitter where it received over 2.4 million views.
A terrible tragedy
THE mother and son who died in a fatal fire at their home near Ballyjamesduff were described as “wonderful community people”.
Kathleen and Michael Lynch perished in the blaze that broke out in one room of their rural country farmhouse home in the early hours of September 10.
Along with a wealth of tributes to the deceased and their legacies in life, praise was also heaped on the efforts of emergency services personnel.
They arrived to the scene at Lackenmore quickly but, sadly, were unable to save the pair despite their best efforts.
‘Heads up!’Indie star shoots video in the Imperial
In his first interview as Cavan senior manager, Raymond Galligan laid out his philosophy for how he hopes the team will play.
Galligan hopes to instil an attacking ethos in the side.
“Our main template will be attacking football,” he told The Anglo-Celt. “Getting that ball from defence to attack as quick as possible.
The style of play I liked when I was playing out the field was ‘get it in early’ and that will be the plan. We have to feed these forwards that ball so it’s heads up!”
ONE of the music industry’s
fastest rising stars, Declan McKenna, was in Town Cavan to shoot a music video in the Imperial.
‘Nothing Works’ came out on September 13, with a video release dropping the following month. To use the Cavan landmark bar was the idea of Cavan film maker and cinematographer Finn Keenan.
Multi-million euro health village to be developed
The Celt revealed that a multi-million euro private health village, combining a medical centre and a 160-bed nursing home, is set to be developed adjacent to Cavan General Hospital.
It has the potential to create at least 80 new medical and administrative jobs in the county town once delivered, not including those generated though the construction project.
