Appeal after latest Cavan burglary
Third burglary reported in the county in almost as many weeks.
Gardaí in Cavan are appealing for information following the latest break-in at a house in Cavan.
It is the third burglary reported in the county in almost as many weeks.
The latest burglary occurred at a property in the Creighan area (Ballinagh Road) on Saturday evening last, December 2, between 5:30pm and 6:20pm, during which a quantity of cash and jewellery was taken.
Amongst the jewellery stolen was a gold and white gold necklace with the name 'Michaela' in individual letters. “This item of jewellery has a huge sentimental value and significance to the family and we are appealing to have it returned,” said gardaí when highlighting the crime on social media.
A green cast iron safe was also removed from the house.
“Did you pass this location during this time and have dash cam footage or did you notice any suspicious or unusual activity in that area. If you can help in any way please make contact with us in Cavan on 049 4368800,” gardaí are asking.
It follows another at Marahill on the Crossdoney to Killeshandra road last week.
That incident occurred Wednesday, November 29, sometime during the day and before 7:15pm.
A quantity of cash and jewellery was taken during the burglary.
According to gardaí a similar type incident also occurred on same day in the Drumkerril area of Milltown.
In the east of the county gardai in Bailieborough are meanwhile investigating a burglary at a house on Sunday, November 26, at approximately 11:30am in Upper Lavey area- along the Dublin Road. Two males in dark clothing entered the house and stole a sum of cash.
They left the scene in a white car, not better described, and travelled in the direction of Cavan.
In relation to this incident gardaí are asking passing motorists with dash cam footage to make it available.
