One Special Day Christmas Appeal with Teach Oscail

Poverty in Cavan is set to be tackled once again this Christmas by Teach Oscail’s ‘One Special Day’ Christmas campaign.

The appeal, which is now in its fifth year, is aimed at helping as many families in County Cavan experience at least one special day out of 365 days in the year when they will be guaranteed a warm home, food on the table and a smile on their children’s faces.

“We are aware that many people are struggling to make ends meet with the growing cost of living, but some people are experiencing extreme poverty in our community,” a spokesperson for the family resource centre told The Anglo-Celt.

Last year, the ‘One Special Day’ Christmas appeal supported over 500 children and families with the help and thanks to the local community and businesses.

“We appreciate that it is a busy time of year for fundraising requests, therefore we thank you for your consideration of the One Special Day, Christmas appeal.

“You can be rest assured that your donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly into the hearts and homes of local families in County Cavan this Christmas.”

Those interested in helping a local family can do so by holding a fundraising event in aid of the appeal such as a Christmas Jumper Day, make a cash donation towards the appeal for the purchase of toys, food or heating from as little as €5, or sharing the appeal information with family and friends.
