It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

The death has occurred of Gavin Denning, Annaharnett, Virginia, Co. Cavan, 20 November 2023. Predeceased by his sisters Joyce and Sophie and recently his grandmother Vera. Much loved son of Oliver and Josie and loved brother of Pauric (Laura), Maria and Sinéad (Bernie).

Sadly missed by his parents, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Rest In Peace. House strictly private by family request please. Funeral Arrangements Later.

Frances McPhilips (née McCaffrey)

Butlersbridge, Cavan

Frances McPhillips, (nee McCaffrey) Butlersbridge, Co. Cavan. Monday November 20th 2023, peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff at Oakview Nursing Home, Belturbet, Co. Cavan. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Eddie, and loving Mother of the late Eamon and Martina. Frances was the devoted mother of Bernadette, Gerry and Padraig. She will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by her loving family, son in law Johnathan, daughter in law Lucy, her adored grandchildren Áine, Cillian, Kate ,Kierra, Aoife, Marseila and her much loved great grandchildren, sister Veronica Christian, London, her wonderful friend Ann McCabe, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, all her relatives and friends. May she rest in peace

Frances will repose at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan H12 C821, tomorrow evening (Tuesday) from 5pm until 7pm. Removal from the Funeral Home on Wednesday morning to St. Aidan’s Church, Butlersbridge, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Following Mass, the cortege will travel to St. Aidan’s Cemetery for committal prayers and burial in the family plot. House private at all times please.

Vera Mc Mahon (née Croarkin)

Tullyshelferty, Dunraymond, Monaghan, H18 RK28

The death has occurred of Vera McMahon (nee Croarkin), Tullyshelferty, Dunraymond, Co Monaghan Monday 20th of November peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her heartbroken family. Predeceased by her husband Owenie, sister Kathleen, brothers Seamus & Packie and granddaughter Clodagh. Vera will be missed and remembered with love by her sons Patrick (Imelda), Eugene (Jenny), Micheal (Elizabeth), daughters Mary (Seamus), Martina (Brendan), Jennifer (Michael), and Catriona (Damien). Her brother Michael Croarkin and sister Josie Smyth. Vera will be fondly remembered by her 19 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers in law, sisters in law, extended family and her many friends. Peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Sarah and John and his sister Sadie. Sadly missed by his brothers John and Larry, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace

Reposing at the premises of McElvaney Funeral Directors, Church Square, Monaghan on Monday (20/11/2023) from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. House private please. Removal on Tuesday (21/11/2023) at 6 p.m., arriving at St. Patrick’s Church, Corracrin at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass on Wednesday (22/11/2023) at 11 a.m. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Kathleen Mc Dermott (née Mc Elearney)

Dunraymond, Monaghan, H18HY10

The death has occurred of Kathleen Mc Dermott (nee Mc Elearney), Corlea, Dunraymond, Co.Monaghan. Sunday November 19th peacefully at the Beaumont Hospital Dublin, surrounded by her family. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Patsy, parents Peter and Mary Ann, brother Jimmy. Deeply regretted and remembered with love, by her heart broken family sons PJ (Theresa), Philip (Tina) and Paul (Joanne), daughters Patricia (Eamon) and Pamela (Séamus R.I.P), sisters Bridgie and Alice (USA) and brother Peter (UK), her cherished grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Kayla, James, Daniel, Jack, Kate, Emma and Shay, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends. “May Kathleen’s Gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace”

Kathleen will repose at the family home (H18HY10) today Monday from 7pm until 9pm and again tomorrow Tuesday from 2pm until 9pm. Removal on Wednesday morning at 10:30am from the residence to arrive at The Most Holy Rosary Church, Tullycorbet for funeral mass at 11am, followed by burial in adjoining cemetery. House private on Wednesday morning please.
