It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Sr. Margaret Mary Connell

St. Emilie's Convent, Bowdon, Manchester, Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred of Sr. Margaret Mary Connell, St. Emilie's Convent, Bowdon, Manchester and formerly Lislea, Virginia, Co. Cavan, peacefully in her 97th year, on the 1st November 2023, surrounded by the loving staff and community of St. Emilie's Convent, Bowdon, Manchester. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Alice and her brothers Phil, Peter, Larry, Michael, Matt and Ned. Sadly missed by her brother Patsy Connell, Lislea and her sister in law Rose Connell, Lislea, nieces, nephews, the community of St. Emilie's Convent in Bowdon and her extended family.

Rest In Peace.

Funeral Mass will take place in St. Emilie's Convent Church, Bowdon on Tuesday, 21st November, at 12 o'clock with burial afterwards in Southern Cemetery.

George Leinster

Carnagarve, Bailieborough, Cavan

The death has occurred of George Leinster, Carnagarve, and formerly of Pottleduff, Bailieborough, Co Cavan and Nottingham, UK died on the 14th November 2023 suddenly at his residence. Predeceased by his mother Margaret, father Joseph and brothers William (Jim), Thomas (Stanley) and Joseph Newell.

Deeply regretted by his sister Tilly Thompson (Tunnyduff), sister-in-law Doris, brother-in-law John, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-niece and great-great-nephew, extended family and friends in the UK and Ireland.

Resting at Clarke's Funeral Home, Bailieborough on Friday evening, 17th November from 6pm - 8pm. Removal from funeral home on Saturday 18th November, at 1:45pm to arrive at Trinity Presbyterian Church for funeral service at 2pm. Burial afterwards in Urcher Graveyard.

John P O'Reilly

Fairview, Dublin / Mullagh, Cavan

The death has occurred of John P O Reilly (Retired Garda Sergeant)

Fairview, Dublin

and formerly Cloughbally Lower, Mullagh, Co. Cavan

Suddenly, at the Mater Hospital, 15th November 2023.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Rose and his sister Anne.

Sadly missed by his brothers Tommy and Noel, sisters Kathleen and Patricia and sister in-law Kathleen, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday 18th November in St Killian's Church, Mullagh, at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Raheg, Ballyhaise, Cavan

Mary Tackney (née Rooney) Raheg, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, beloved wife of the late Paddy, Thursday, November, 16th peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Pre-deceased by her sister Kathleen. Sadly missed by her loving daughters, Lynda (Sean), Mary, Monica (Declan), Geraldine (Aiden), son Martin (Anna), grandchildren Aloigshe Rioghan, Oisin, Odhran Lauryn, brothers, Liam, P.J, Martin, sisters, Bridie, Rosaleen, Ann, Caroline and Geraldine sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home Friday, from 2pm until 8pm and Saturday, from 1pm until 4pm. Removal Saturday evening to St. Mary’s Church, Ballyhaise, to arrive at 6.00pm. Requiem Mass on Sunday at 2.00pm, interment afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Castletara.

Carmel Clarke

Killyconnigan, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Carmel Clarke, Killyconnigan, Monaghan Town, Wednesday 15th November, peacefully in the presence of her loving family at home. Predeceased by her parents John & Mary Clarke, brother John and sister Helen. Carmel will be sorely missed by her daughter Samantha, her cherished grandchildren David & Teagan, her sisters Marien, Betty, Pauline, Noleen and brothers Michael & Billy.

Carmel will repose in Clerkin's Funeral Home, Milltown, Monaghan Town (H18YF22) on Thursday the 16th from 4pm-7pm. Funeral Service will be celebrated in Clerkin's Funeral Home at 10am on Friday 17th, followed by private cremation in Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan.

Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to "Alzheimers & Palliative Care" c/o Clerkins Funeral Home.

Canon Patrick Marron

Fintona, Tyrone / Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Canon Patrick Marron formerly of Parnell Street, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan and Donacavey Parish, Fintona, Co Tyrone. Peacefully on Wednesday 15th November, in the tender and dedicated care of the staff of St. Anne’s Nursing Home, Ballybay. Brother of John (Carrickmacross) and predeceased by his brothers Tom and PJ, sisters Monica, Ann Harte (late Oliver), Margaret Fox (late Eamon), Kathleen and sister-in-law Denise Marron. Uncle to Peter, Alyson, Shauna, David Woodward and Rosanna O’Rielly.

For anyone who wishes to pay their respects, Canon Marron will be reposing in St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross from 6pm on Thursday 16th November. His remains will leave St Joseph’s Church at 8pm and will be received into St. Lawrence’s Church, Fintona at 9.45pm. Canon Marron will be reposing in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona from 1pm, until 9.30pm on Friday 17th November. His requiem Mass will take place at 12 noon on Saturday 18th November, followed by his burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by his loving brother, nephews, nieces and entire family circle.

May the Lord support us all the day long, Till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.
