It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Marie Briody

(née McFaul)

Slanore, Crossdoney, Cavan

Marie died peacefully, on 14th November 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at Cavan General Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Paddy, and much loved mother to Ann, Padraig, Brenda, Maeve, Thomas, Gerardine, Ciarán and Damian. Devoted grandmother to Bethanne, Katie Mae, Senan, Órnagh, and Sadhbh, Sadly missed by sons and daughters in law, sisters in law, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May she rest in peace.

Marie will repose at her son Padraig's house, Cornamuckla, Lough Gowna (H12K028) from 2pm on Wednesday, 15th November. Removal from her son's house on Thursday morning, arriving to St. Patrick's Church, Drumcor, Cavan, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.

House private on Thursday morning please.

Tom Duggan, Annalee Drive, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan Tuesday November 14th (Peacefully), at Cavan General Hospital. Beloved husband of Rita (Fay) son Tommy, daughter Kathleen, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces and a wide circle of friends.

Mary Mc Dowell

Carraig Beag, Drumalee, Cavan

Mary Mc Dowell, Carraig Beag, Drumalee, Cavan and formerly Tullacmongan and St. Bridget's Tce, Cavan Town. Predeceased by her parents John and Maureen Mc Dowell. November 14th 2023, peacefully after a long illness borne with grace and dignity and in the loving care of all those close to her. Beloved and adoring mother and best friend of Orla. Mary will be very sadly missed and so dearly loved by her heartbroken daughter and her partner Paul, her adored grandchildren, Cian and Ava, her family Caroline, Margaret, Fran, Lorraine, Madeline, John and their partners, nephews, nieces, all her former colleagues, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12 C821), on Thursday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Removal on Friday morning to the Cathedral of Ss Patrick and Felim, Cavan, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Following Mass, a private cremation will take place.

No flowers please, donations, in lieu, would be appreciated to Palliative Care, Cavan c/o Mc Mahon Funeral Directors, or by donation envelope in the Cathedral and the Funeral Home.

Mary Ann (Maisie) O'Reilly

(née Carolan)

Killann, Shercock, Cavan

The death has occurred of Mary Anne (Maisie) O’Reilly (nee Carolan), Killann, Shercock, Co.Cavan (formerly Lakeland, Tunnyduff), Monday, November 13th, 2023. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the exceptional care of the wonderful staff of Virginia Primary Care Centre, in her 93rd year. Loving wife of the late George, pre-deceased by her infant daughter Marie-Therese and her grandsons Aaron and Fionán. She will be sadly missed by her children Celine, Bernadette, Oliver, Angela, Imelda and Gerard, her sons-in-law, Gerry, Brian, Paul & John, daughter-in-law Colette, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing in Clarkes Funeral Home, Lower Main Street, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan on Wednesday, 15th November, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Funeral on Thursday, 16th November, leaving her home at 10:30am to St. Anne’s Church, Killann, for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, burial afterwards at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Shercock.

Bridget (Bridie) Taaffe

Doogarry, Killeshandra, Cavan

Peacefully at Newbrook lodge Nursing Home, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. Predeceased by her sisters Peggy, Teresa, Josie, and Rose and brothers Thomas, James, and Patrick. She will be Deeply missed by her Brother John, sister-in-law Martini, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephew, nieces-in-law, nephew-in-law relatives neighbours and friends.

May she Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Lakelands funeral home, Dublin Road, Cavan (Eircode H12 RF78) on Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm. Removal from the Funeral home on Thursday morning to arrive at St Mary's Church, Drumeela, for Funeral mass at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Connolly-McMahon

McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale, Monaghan, H18 FK80 / Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Mary Connolly-McMahon, McMahon’s Funeral Home, Emyvale, Co.Monaghan and formerly Carrickmacross. Tuesday 14th November, peacefully at her sister Eilish's residence, in the care of her heartbroken family.

Pre-deceased by her father Peter Connolly. Mary will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Peter, mother Irene, brothers Michael (Eileen), Paul and Owenie, sister Eilish, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a large circle of family and friends.

Funeral mass on Friday morning at 11am at St.Mary’s Church, Glennan, burial afterwards beside her loving father in St.Lastra’s Cemetery, Donaghmoyne. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Carrickmacross Cancer Society, c/o McMahon’s Funeral Home, Emyvale or any family member.

The death has occurred of Mary McMahon nee McKenna, Brownhill, Tydavnet, Co. Monaghan, Saturday, 11th November, peacefully, at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. Predeceased by her husband Owen. Deeply regretted by her daughters Christine & Marion, son in law Tom, grandsons Paul (Carrie), David (Aileen), sisters Lizzie & Josie, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May Mary's gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Mary's remains will repose at Cunningham's Funeral Home, Clonsilla Road, Dublin 15, D15 PY23 on Tuesday from 6pm - 8pm and at McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale, Co.Monaghan, H18 FK80 on Wednesday morning from 9.30am - 10.30am. Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning at 11am at St.Dympna's Church, Tydavnet, burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to The Tydavnet Lunch Club.
