Virginia Scouts den a step closer

Negotiations have moved forward in acquiring a permanent home for Virginia Scouts in Deerpark Forest.

Parking at Deerpark will also be improved as part of a proposed investment.

Virginia Scouts currently has over 90 members and 36 leaders, as well as a waiting list of over 30 to join their group.

“For Virginia Scouts to have a permanent home would bring stability, continuity and allow their leaders the opportunity to make long term plans that would benefit our young people in east Cavan into their adult years,” said Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth who attended a meeting with Coillte to discuss the possibility of the local organisation securing lands at Deerpark.

“I’m happy to report that negotiations went well.”

The plans have now been proposed to Cavan County Council for further discussion and approval, with hope to progress the project in tandem with the local authority's intention to improve parking facilities also.
