Lisa appointed fellow to Seamus Heaney Centre

Cavan's Lisa O'Neill has been announced as a fellow to the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's.

The Ballyhaise singer-songwriter is one of three people announced in the 2023-24 in-take, alongside Dundonald-born writer and performer Stacey Gregg and novelist David Park. Each year, the Seamus Heaney Centre announces three Fellows from the worlds of Poetry, Fiction, Music, Film and Television to explore creative writing in all its forms by working with students and contributing to the centre’s activities within the university and the wider literary community.

The chosen trio are expected to officially begin work with the centre in the new year.

Lisa meanwhile is set to join fellow musicians Lankum, The Mary Wallopers, Damien Dempsey and more at a major gig announced for later this month to raise awareness and funds for the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Gig For Gaza to take place on Tuesday, November 28, and was set to be staged at Dublin's Vicar Street, but has since been moved to the 3Arena on the same date after tickets for the concert sold out in a matter of hours.
