Pat Kinevane in King

Kinevane's drama may be Ramor's crowning glory

Ramor Theatre host Pat Kinevane's King this Saturday

A drama coming to the Ramor Theatre this weekend will likely prove one of the theatre highlights of the year.

King plays the Virginia venue for one night only this Saturday and sees Pat Kinevane and Fishamble team up once again. Kinevane and the Dublin production team previously collaborated on Forgotten, Silent, Underneath and Before - all of which played County Cavan. Amongst the haul of major international awards they scooped is an Olivier and a Fringe First.

Now, Fishamble and Pat Kinevane, under the direction of Jim Culleton, and with music by Denis Clohessy, return with King, a fifth solo play.

'King' tells the story of Luther, a man from Cork named in honour of his Granny Bee Baw’s hero, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Luther only leaves his apartment for essential journeys, and to perform as an Elvis impersonator. The play explores prejudice, privilege, and resilience, as Luther struggles to live life to the full.

Irish Times gushed that it has an ‘incredibly compelling and poignant narrative’ while the Sunday Independent said: ‘the stagecraft [is] unsurpassed…immaculate’.

There's still limited tickets available for the Ramor Theatre perfromance this Saturday night from https://ramortheatre.com.
