Official opening of Killeshandra Primary Care Centre
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly is expected to visit Cavan later this week for the official opening of the new Killeshandra Primary Care Centre.
The opening is to take place this coming Friday, November 10, with confirmation of the visit provided to local Fianna Fáil Councillor Áine Smith.
“I am delighted to see that the Primary Care Centre in Killeshandra will be officially opened this Friday the 10th of November. This modern centre will deliver quality healthcare for Killeshandra’s community and surrounding areas. The need for this facility was first highlighted by Dr Joan Ahern as GP and with the help of my father the late Councillor Seán Smith and Brendan Smith TD this vision has finally become a reality."
Cllr Smith welcomed the delivery of the new purpose-built health facility for the town.
"I know that the late Councillor Seán Smith worked closely along with Dr Ahern and the local community in impressing strongly on the HSE the need to provide Killeshandra with a modern and extensive health centre. I know that other healthcare workers and community activists also strongly supported those efforts. We all know too well how important healthcare facilities and services are, and delivering healthcare services at a local level is very important for local residents. I know from Deputy Brendan Smith that Minister Stephen Donnelly has been very supportive of this project since his appointment as Minister for Health."
Cllr Smith further commended the work of officials in the HSE and the Department of Health who were directly involved in the project. "I wish all the staff providing services in this new centre every success with their important work.
"Mar a deireann an seanfhocal is fearr an tsláinte ná an táinte and this really is so true, your health is your wealth. I will be glad to work along with others in advocating for improved services in our Belturbet-Cavan Municipal district.”
