Over €30K for Cavan libraries' ICT equipment
Funding of €1.3 million for new computers, laptops, iPads and other ICT equipment in public libraries across the country was announced last week.
A sum of €32,564.25 has been allocated to Cavan, with libraries in Cavan Town (Johnston Central), Cootehill, Bailieborough, Ballyjamesduff, Arva, Virginia, Belturbet, Ballyconnell, the Cavan Library Service Branch Exchange, and Kingscourt to benefit.
The investment, announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys under the Libraries Capital Programme, is aimed at making libraries more digitally inclusive.
The funding will also support the new public library strategy, ‘The Library is the Place’.
“It is essential that our libraries are able to provide up-to-date ICT infrastructure because they play a critical role in helping to support digital inclusion, as well as providing literacy and technology skills training for those looking for work,” said Minister Humphreys.
