Unsettled period of weather in store

Weather update from Met Éireann

Unsettled period in store with rain and showers every day. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Turning wet and breezy today. Rain will spread across Munster in the morning before extending across the rest of the country during the afternoon. The rain will be heavy and thundery at times, so localised flooding is possible, particularly in the southwest. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in a fresh to strong and gusty east to southeast wind.

It will continue wet and breezy tonight with rain heavy moving northwards bringing a further chance of localised flooding overnight. The clearance of that rain will be followed by a short break and then further rain later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in a moderate to fresh and gusty southeast wind, strong in coastal areas.

Wednesday will be cloudy with widespread outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times. Drying up in the southwest by evening, becoming mainly confined to the east and north. Milder than recent days, with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, in a moderate to fresh and gusty east to southeast wind, easing in southern areas later.

Cloudy night with come clear intervals. Rain will clear northeastwards Wednesday night and after a short break will be followed by further outbreaks of rain into southern counties. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a light to moderate easterly or variable wind.

Thursday morning will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Through the afternoon the rain will clear northwards, followed by scattered heavy showers and some sunny intervals. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in a light to moderate east to southeast wind.

A cloudy night overnight on Thursday with scattered showers, some turning heavy. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in a mostly light east to northeast breeze.

Friday is expected another wet and cloudy day, with scattered heavy showers. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in a light to moderate easterly wind, turning fresh in the northeast.

Generally cloudy on Friday night with some clear intervals. Otherwise a wet night with rain spreading from the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in a mostly moderate easterly wind, freshening near eastern coasts.

Rain and cloud will clear to the west through the day on Saturday with hazy sunny spells and some scattered showers following. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a light easterly breeze.

Further outlook: Staying unsettled for the rest of the weekend and into next week with further spells of rain and showers.
