Roz Purcell has urged her followers to check in on their loved ones after the death of her beloved aunt Mary.

Purcell explained she would not be on her RTÉ radio show, which she co-hosts with Emma Power, following the bereavement.

The influencer said she did not want to return to social media yet, but wanted to update her followers.

Purcell, 33, said: "Last week and this weekend was a terrible time for our family as we lost our auntie Mary, which I'm sure a lot of people watching this will have an auntie they're super close to.

"She was just a real core part of our family so it's just really awful."

"I don't feel like posting this week, but I'm very conscious I have a book coming out, so I'll definitely have to then.

"So I've come on here tonight anyway to tell you to give your elderly relatives a call... right? It's not even late, they will still be up.

"Ring your parents, your grandparents, your aunties, whoever it is... just give them a call."

The Tipperary native added: "You know the way sometimes you'll think 'oh I'll go down and visit them this weekend and the weekend comes and you're like ah I'll go next weekend', but do it this weekend.

"And get off your phone when you're with them, and that's all I have to say. "If you don't I'll be raging at you now... get off your phone and remember you'll never regret a visit, don't put it off."
