Cavan clean-ups sees half a ton of rubbish collected

Almost 500kg of litter were removed by volunteers from County Cavan for the 'Big Beach Clean'. Despite not having a beach in Cavan, volunteers were not deterred and collected from lough shores and river banks in the county.

Nationwide 7,700 volunteers collected an overall 46 tonnes of litter and took part in a worldwide citizen science project.

In County Cavan, 80 volunteers removed an estimated 480kg of litter. Clean-ups happened in various locations, including Blacklion, Glangevlin and Maudabawn.
