Teenage boy killed in Monaghan crash named

The teenage boy who died in a car crash in Co Monaghan in the early hours of yesterday morning has been named as Jake Brennan from Lisglasson, Clontibret.

The single-car collision happened in Carrickaderry, Clontibret, at around 1.30am on Wednesday morning.

The 17-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Monaghan General Hospital for a postmortem.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.

Jake was the cherished son of Carl and Carol Brennan. He was predeceased by his grandparents Pat and Mary Brennan, his infant brother Jamie and uncle Aiden Brennan.

The popular teenager is deeply regretted and remembered with love by his heart broken family - parents Carl and Carol, sisters Stephanie and Sophie, brother Jayden, grandparents Ivan and Rhoda Graham, aunts, uncles, cousins and his many, many friends.

The family home is private until further notice with funeral arrangements yet to be confirmed.
