Largely dry day with some good sunny spells

Weather update from Met Éireann

Largely dry this morning with some good sunny spells developing and just a few isolated showers along Atlantic coastal counties. Cloud will gradually build from the northwest later though as a more organised band of rain moves over Ulster and gradually moves south this afternoon. Further south it will stay mainly dry with good sunny spells. A little cooler today with highs of 13 to 16 degrees and a light west to northwest breeze.

The rain will remain persistent over northern counties with elsewhere a mix of cloudy periods and isolated showers. The best of any clear spells tonight to be found in the south. A rather cool northerly breeze will keep lowest temperatures to around 7 to 10 degrees overnight tonight.

Cloudy with scattered showers tomorrow morning but they will gradually die out as good sunny spells develop by midday. Staying generally dry through the afternoon with just the slight chance of a passing shower. Northerly winds will ease too with highs of 12 to 15 degrees.

Mostly dry and calm on Friday night with plenty of long clear spells through the night. Some mist and fog patches will form however and it will be quite chilly too as temperatures fall to between 4 and 7 degrees.

Saturday will start largely dry with some sunny spells but a spell of rain will sweep across the country during the late morning and afternoon accompanied by blustery southerly winds, strong at times around coasts. Highs of 14 to 17 degrees.

The rain will clear Saturday evening with a few showers lingering about the coasts. The strong southerly winds will ease to a moderate southwesterly with lows of 11 to 14 degrees.

Sunday will bring scattered cloud with a few showers at first but later in the morning more cloud will build from the south as bands of rain move over southern countries by the afternoon. The rain will continue to spread further north with strengthening southerly winds. Some heavy falls are possible too. Humid and quite warm on Sunday with highs of 17 to 19 degrees.

Rain will clear to scattered showers later Sunday evening with some clear spells developing away from the coasts. Staying rather humid overnight with lows of 12 to 15 degrees and moderate southerly winds.

Cloudy periods and scattered showers to begin on Monday morning. The showers will become more persistent later in the afternoon with blustery southwesterly winds. Mild too with some isolated sunny spells and highs of 16 to 19 degrees.

Tuesday looks set to be another wet and blustery day with showers moving in from the west together with strong and gusty westerly winds. Temperatures again in the mid to high teens.
