Sunday sport: Fiji earn historic win over Australia, Arsenal beat Everton

Rugby

Fiji have beaten Australia at the World Cup.

They earned a deserved 22-15 victory in Saint Etienne to ensure Pool C is now wide open.

Simione Kuruvoli kicked 4 first half penalties for the Fijians and Josua Tuisova put them further in front after a second half try.

The Wallabies rallied with a try by Suli Vunivalu, but it wasn't enough.

Ahead of next Saturday's Pool B showdown with Ireland in Paris, South Africa have called up out-half Handre Pollard to their squad as a replacement for injured hooker Malcolm Marx.

The Springboks beat Romania 76-0 earlier today, scoring 12 tries.

At 8pm this evening, England will bid for back to back victories.

They play Japan in Pool D in Nice.

 

Soccer

Arsenal have beaten Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park to make it 4 wins from 5 in the new Premier League season.

Belgian Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game in the second half.

The Toffees remain without a win a month into the campaign.

Earlier - it ended goalless between Bournemouth and Chelsea at the Vitality Stadium.

In the Championship, Leeds United won 3-0 away to Millwall.

Shamrock Rovers are into the semi-finals of the Women's FAI Cup.

They beat Cork City 5-0 in Bishopstown to join Shelbourne, Sligo Rovers and Athlone Town in the last four.

 

Golf

New Zealand's Ryan Fox won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

He carded a final round 67 for a total of 18 under par and a one shot victory over English duo Tyrrell Hatton and Aaron Rai (pr: Rye).

Rory McIlroy enjoyed an excellent Sunday less than two weeks out from the Ryder Cup.

He fired a final round 65 to earn a tie for seventh place on 13 under par.

Defending champion Shane Lowry ended on 10 under.

Tom McKibbin rounded up his tournament by finishing on 3 under.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz won the Singapore Grand Prix, ending Red Bull's run of 15 straight race wins.

Lando Norris finished second with Lewis Hamilton back in third.
