Mix of hazy sunshine and drizzle today

Weather update from Met Éireann

Unsettled conditions with uncertainty in the timing and intensity of rainfall. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Overnight mist and fog will clear. Wednesday will start out dry across much of eastern half of the country with spells of hazy sunshine. Cloudier elsewhere with outbreaks of rain and drizzle gradually moving in off the Atlantic, extending to remaining areas during the afternoon, last to reach the southeast. Becoming breezy too with freshening southerly winds, strong on Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees.

Tonight, patchy outbreaks of rain or drizzle will persist for a time. While it will dry up, some mist and fog in places later. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southwest breezes.

Thursday will begin mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Overnight mist and fog in places too. Some uncertainty, but low cloud, rain and drizzle will likely move up from the south, with some heavy falls later. Much of Ulster will stay dry for the day. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light northeast breezes.

Heavy persistent rain is currently expected to move up from the south on Thursday night, bringing possible flooding; extensive low cloud and mist. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, in light northerly breezes.

Uncertainty in the forecast remains for Friday but currently very heavy overnight rain will be slow to clear eastwards, possibly even lingering for much of the day, before eventually petering out during the early night. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees, in light to moderate northeast winds, with best values across the southeast.

Saturday will bring a mix of sunny spells and showers, most frequent in the east. Sunday is likely to see showers or outbreaks of rain. East to northeast winds will persist with daytime highs of 14 to 17 degrees.
