Local firms in Best of Ireland magazine

Six local businesses have been listed under the best that Ireland has to offer.

Sustainability is being celebrated in the Breffni County as The EcoShack has been named one of the Best Of Ireland 2023.

Astounded by the honour, Blaithin McCormack said: “It feels fantastic. It is lovely to have our achievements recognised as part of The Best of Ireland 2023.

“I’m sure other business owners can relate to imposter syndrome and sometimes you just need a reminder that you are on the right path.”

The business owner outlined what she believes qualified The EcoShack to make the cut.

“I think it just comes down to trying our best and believing in what we do. I think you can’t go wrong with a business that is all about trying to help the community and planet.”

The HotPress annual publication, which landed on shelves last week, provides a comprehensive guide to Ireland’s best restaurants, shops, venues, attractions, hotels and events.

Other businesses to feature include Cavan County Museum, Erne Island Water Park, J&B Hope, MacNean House & Restaurant, and Virginia Park Lodge.

Blaithin and her sister Maeve opened The EcoShack in the midst of Covid and have had their fair share of ups and downs since then.

“Sometimes, when you are caught up in the hard moments of running a business, you forget how far you have come. It’s a nice reminder that we are helping Cavan be more eco friendly which has been our dream from the start.”

Sustainability is at the forefront of The EcoShack’s agenda as the sisters aim to reduce Cavan’s Carbon footprint by spreading their wisdom to their customers.
