Boomtown Rats to play Egg Market concert

Legendary rock band to headline 'Cavan Day'.

Legendary rocker The Boomtown Rats are set to play Cavan Town’s Egg Market later this evening, Saturday evening, July 29.

The band's bass player Pete Briquette originally hails from Ballyjamesduff in what is expected to be a gig to remember for the county.

Speaking to the Celt earlier this month, he spoke of his excitement ahead of this 'hometown' show.

"[It'll] be a great gig, a f**kin great gig. The band is really cooking at the moment. We’re all so long in the tooth now, and have been doing it so long now that it becomes second nature almost."

He will be joined on stage by original members Bob Geldof, and Simon Crowe to perform classics such as ‘Rat Trap’ and ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’.
