Woodford Timber plans preservative treatment plant for Ballyconnell

Timber products firm Woodford Timber has applied for planning to develop a new oil-based, timber preservative treatment plant at its facility near Ballyconnell.

The proposal for the Kiltynaskellan, Doogary site also includes an adjoining lean-to structure that would contain a biomass boiler.

The new investment would be used in conjunction with the existing on-site timber products business.

The plans have been submitted to council planners by Longford-based Cunningham Design & Planning Limited.

The proposal is part of an ongoing expansion and investment in operations, after planning was granted earlier this year for the construction of a storage unit.

Bawnboy

Meanwhile, Bawnboy-based Joe McGovern Transport is seeking planning permission to retain two loading bays to existing portal frame buildings (Warehouse 2 & 3) together with planning permission for extensions carried out to Warehouse 1.

This consisted of a six-bay extension to rear and extension to side of Warehouse 1, with three loading bays and associated site works.

Council planners are due to make decisions on the applications in August.
