Lily Byers

(née Preston)

Denn Cross, Carrickaboy, Cavan / Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Lily Byers, née Preston, Denn Cross, Carrickaboy, Co Cavan and formerly Ballyjamesduff. Peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife and best friend of Ralph and dear mother of John (Caroline), Ann (Wayne) and Ralph (Charlene). Sadly missed by her loving husband, sons, daughter, son in law, daughters in law, her 11 adored grandchildren, sister in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Removal from her home, Tuesday at 1.30pm, to Denn Parish Church, H12KR61, to arrive for Funeral Service at 2.00pm. Interment afterwards in adjoining Church Grounds.

Veronica (Vera) Sheenan

(née Hanratty)

Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Veronica (Vera) Sheenan, née Hanratty, Enniskeen, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, peacefully, at her home, 9th July 2023.

Vera and Mickey Hand in Hand Again

Predeceased by her loving husband Mickey, infant daughter Lorraine, brothers, sisters & nephews. Much loved and adored mother of Peter, Sharon & Miceál. Deeply regretted by her daughters-in-law Jacqui & Sinéad, son-in-law Karl, grandchildren Georgia, Jack, Jake & Ellie, sisters Sr. Veronica Hanratty, Dympna Madden & Olive Rooney, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace

Reposing at her home on Tuesday, 11th July from 2pm to 8pm and Wednesday, 12th July from 2pm until 8pm. Vera’s Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday 13th July in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, at 10am, followed by cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium.

Hughie Smith

Ballynacargy, Westmeath / Corlough, Cavan / Ballinamore, Leitrim

The death has occurred of Hughie Smith, Ballysallagh, Ballynacargy, Co. Westmeath & Alexander Ave, Yonkers, New York following a brief illness, 2nd July 2023.

Formerly of Teeboy, Corlough, Co. Cavan & Ballinamore, Co. Letirim

Hughie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sheila (Sheridan), his brothers & sisters Paddy (Barbara), Mary (John) Walsh, Lena Smith, Johnny Smith, Pauline (John) Hewitt and Patricia (Eugene) McCormack. His 16 nephews and nieces will miss him along with his many grand-nephews, grand-nieces, his many beloved cousins in Ireland and England and his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law. Hughie’s passing is also deeply mourned by his many friends, neighbours, sporting and former work colleagues here and in the States.

A Celebration of Hughie's life took place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Friday, July 7th from 4pm until 8 pm. Funeral Mass took place at Saint Barnaba's Church located at 409 E 241st St, Bronx, New York, on Saturday, July 8th at 11:00am.

Hughie will repose at Smith's Funeral Home, High St., Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim N41 TD62 this Sunday afternoon. July 9th, from 4.30pm until 6.00pm and on Monday at his home in Ballysallagh, Ballynacargy, Co. Westmeath N91 YV99 from 10am until 9pm.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday (July 11th) at 11am in the Church of the Nativity, Ballynacargy, followed by burial in Sonna Cemetery.

Sister Marie de Paul Neiers

St. Louis Convent, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Sister Marie de Paul Neiers (Ernestine), St Louis Convent, Carrickmacross, formerly from Luxembourg.

Peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Castleross Nursing Home, on July 9th 2023. Predeceased by her parents, Margot and Nicolas Neiers.

Sadly missed by all her friends, especially the O’Sullivan Family, Dublin and Sr Monique Hoffmann, Luxembourg and her St Louis Community.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross (A81 C653) on Monday 10th at 2.30pm, concluding with Evening Prayer at 5pm. Removal from Iona House, Farney Street on Tuesday morning arriving to St. Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross at 9.50am for Requiem Mass 10am. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Carrickmacross.

Noreen O'MAHONY

(née Sherry)

Manorwood, Monaghan / Aughnacloy, Tyrone

The death has occurred of Noreen O’MAHONY (née Sherry) Manorwood, Monaghan and formerly of Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone.

Passed away peacefully at Beaumont Hospital, on Saturday, 8th July, with her family close by. Predeceased by her dear son Barry, brothers Paddy, Ben and John and sister May. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband Noel, daughter Cara and son Gerard, son-in-law Andrew, daughter-in-law Úna, grandchildren Thomas, Ryan, Cian and Áine; her brother Oliver and sister-in-law Josie, extended family circle and many friends.
