Monaghan Minor Injuries Unit opens seven days a week

The Minor Injuries Unit in Monaghan Hospital will be moving to the promised seven days a week service from this weekend.

The extension to the opening hours of the Unit (MIU) begins on Saturday, July 8.

Last year, opening hours of the unit were extended from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday after a long campaign urging local people to use the facility to both increase numbers and reduce pressure on Cavan Emergency Department.

Opening hours will now move to 8am to 8pm, seven days per week, 363 days per year (closed Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day).

Senator Gallagher welcomed the development as "very positive news for the region" and he continues to encourage locals to use the facility.
